About the London Community Orchestra
The London Community Orchestra started out life 35 years ago as the Fanshawe Community Orchestra, an extension course of Fanshawe College. Now an independent corporation with charitable donation status, the orchestra is composed of mostly amateur musicians from all walks of life and of all ages, who share a common love of making music together.
For most of its existence, the LCO has had the Aeolian Town Hall as its home, performing all its concerts there, as well as rehearsing in the hall most Tuesday evenings during the season. This season the orchestra is experiencing a big change, with most of its rehearsals being held, for the first time, in the Waldorf School. However, as in the past, all concerts this season will be held in Aeolian Hall.
The orchestra is operated by an executive board made up of members of the orchestra. The day-to-day workings of the orchestra are looked after most competently by our orchestra manager of many years, Margaret Whitby, to whom everyone in the orchestra is greatly indebted. This year the orchestra's president is Ray Thomson.
We are delighted to have with us once again Len Ingrao, our Music Director since 1998, and Carolyn Martinelli, our Concertmaster since 2005.
